Description

A typographic publication focusing on the Hawaiian Queen Liliʻuōkalani's letters to the United States regarding the illegal overthrow of Hawaiʻi. Every word in the book comes directly from the letters she sent to the U.S. Congress, President Benjamin Harrison, and President William McKinley regarding the violation of both international law and civil procedure. Not only was her voice and authority silenced and ignored, but so was the voice of the Hawaiian people; therefore, I found it essential to include the kūʻē petitions -- a petition against the illegal annexation of Hawaiʻi signed by over 21,000 Hawaiian citizens -- in my cover/poster.
