Description

These illustrations were made for Wāhine Freelance Alliance’s Roots of Connection education program. Developed in partnership with the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife, the workshop utilizes scratch to teach Hawai’i-based fourth to sixth grade keiki about the importance of community forests.

As a Native Hawaiian Artist, my understanding of Hawaiʻi’s nature, diverse culture, food, and landscape was crucial in creating the large bank of diverse illustrations keiki could connect with. The keiki use basic coding to animate my illustrations in scratch and create scenes of their own!
